WHAT WE DO: CREATING CONFIDENCE, CONFIDENT CREATING
Artful Kids Creating
Artful Kids offers small group art workshops and courses for children aged 6 to 11 in term time and the holidays.
When children engage in artistic activities, they develop a sense of self-worth, explore their emotions, and gain confidence in their abilities.
Too many children lack confidence in their creative abilities and feel they can't draw or make art. All of us from childhood to adulthood hold the potential to be artists. We are all creative if we just let go of the preconceptions of ourselves and dive in. Paint, collage, crayons, biro, recycled items, it doesn't matter what you pick up to create with. All mediums have art creating potential as long as they are safe and can be used to mark make or manipulated into something new and different. Children from a young age have an innate attraction to colour and a desire to scribble and mark make. Sometimes adult attitudes, lack of opportunity or even peer pressure as a child gets older can hinder that magical sense of wonder developing, that moment of joy and satisfaction children can feel through creating something from nothing. This means that the endless possibilities of what can be done with a splodge or two of colour whilst messing around playing with paint, can be missed.
The workshops and courses will be carefully planned to introduce your child to colour, materials, techniques and even an introduction to famous artists past and present. All manner of materials and mediums will be used. Whether it's acrylic paint or mixed media collage, drypoint printing or painting, your child will have fun, learn and create with confidence in a safe space, without judgement and with a freedom of artistic expression they will carry with them for life. Social interaction and interpersonal skills will be forged, embedded and strengthened and your child will feel accomplished and confident in their creative abilities.
